CURLIN WINS!

I sure hope someone in our class listened to Professor Brown, and picked Curlin to win the Preakness. If you did, then you are sitting pretty with some extra cash in your pocket due to the win inched out by Curlin against Street Sense. Thanks to photography everyone was able to see the photo finish at the Preakness Stakes in Pimlico Race Track. I had a fantastic time at "The Freakness" hanging out with over 100,000 people in the infield surrounded by the race track. Hope everyone elses experience was as amazing as mine. God Bless the Preakness and BUAD477. Had a blast this semester, "Bloggin it UP" and livin the life with the big guy Professor Brown. Enjoy retirement and livin your life across the pond! Cheers and Thanks again. Long live Barbaro and this years Preakness winner CURLIN!

WIKI WRAP-UP!

As I wrap up this semester, I thought it would be time to check out my wikipedia articles one more time to check and see what I edited was still there or had been eliminated...

Dumb and Dumber Edit:
Believe it or not everything I added to this article is still in tact. The characters I had added from the 1st and 2nd revision as well as the information I added on the prequel to the excellent movie have not been edited or removed...Most be because I am such a D&D connoisseur.

Spring Break:
Here I added info on the new laws in Fort Lauderdale restricting spring breakers from visiting, some suggestions such on other destination such as "road trips", and help for booking your trip through StudentCity.com. All information is still available however the information about Student City has been moved to another section and the link has been removed, but still there for other Wikiers to enjoy and take advantage of.

Cocktail List:
I added new drinks to the "rum list" of Superman and Miami Vice, added some internal links to the "See Also" section of beer and glassware, and placed an external link to the "Webtender" website. With except to the webtender website, everything has been kept to the article and not edited. The external web link has been removed though due to irrelavance and lack of help. I thought it was a good page but apparently didn't meet the WIKI standards...O Well!

Bristol, CT:
ALthough my favorite article due to the fact it's my hometown two of my edits had been removed. I added information on the Northeast Regionals for the Little League taking place at Giamatti Little League Center, a picture of the legendary baseball field, Muzzy, and info on the "Battle of the Bell." However the only edit to stand the fire was the adding of the info on the Northeast Regional. Too bad I couldnt get the copyright for the Muzzy Field picture. Long-live BRISTAAAAAAAAAL, CT!

There it is, the good, the bad, and the ugly of WIKIPEDIA...may my edits always stand from here on out.

How fast is WIKI?!?

In my fellow classmate Alex's Blog he had a posting on a edit he made to the Metallica wikipedia article where he experimented on how long it would take for false information to be removed once submitted. I did a similar experiment for my own knowledge and it was pretty amazing for information that I actually thought was relevant was removed within 15 minutes of being editted and submitted. It is pretty amazing to see how fast they are monitoring these articles, but I guess they have to since Wikipedia is now used as a resource for information by everyone all over the internet. Keep up the good work WIKI!

Alone Time vs. Prime Time

Again in John Battelle's Searchblog he comments on the videos all over the news of David Hasselhoff Puking. Just like John Battelle suggests, is this stuff really news. Material like this may be better off me watching on collegehumor.com or YouTube, not necessarily on CNN. I could even see this presentable on Entertainment Tonight or another one of thos celebrity shows, because thats what it is for, entertainment, it is not really news to be broadcasted on the #1 news station. So yes I vote Alone Time, not Prime Time to be watched with unsuspecting strangers while you wait in an airport as your flight has been delayed 2 hours.

Google Search A-OK!

On May 10th the John Battelle's Searchblog pointed out a article where a Judge OKs Google Search. This article basically stated that in the court of law a judge official ruled that it was OK for employers to use Google as a background check on future or current employees. In this case a man got fired for a simple Google search performed by the HR department. The judge ruled that "the internet shouldn't get singled out for special treatment, and that it should be considered as any other research source." So for all of us out perform daily Google searches on yourself and make sure you have a clean record both on and off the internet. I recently experienced something like this where employers had admitted to checking out my facebook profile, however due to the fact I use the proper security features on facebook they were unable to find any discriminating pictures or information about myself that I wouldnt want any other "Joe Schmo" on the street to know.

TOP 5 in US

While studying for the exam I started to think about what the Top 5 sites visited in the United States were, well after a quick google search I came across some valuable information...TOP 5...Placing:

1.)Yahoo
2.)Google
3.)Myspace
4.)MSN
5.)YouTube

No real surprises but was pretty interested in the standings!

FINAL WIKI POSTS!

I have now conducted my thrid and final wiki posts on the articles I have been monitoring all semester long. For the Bristol article I added some info to the Trivia section about one of my favorite events of the year in Bristol where the two cross-town football teams compete againts each other for the Bell trophy as well as bragging rights for the rest of the year. On the Spring Break article I added some info to the Destination section which tells where some students may travel for spring break such as taking a road trip which has been growing by leaps and bounds for alternative break vacations and money savers ranging from Boston, MA or down the east coast to popular FL destinations. For the Dumb and Dumber article I added information on the prequel that says neither Jim Carey nor Jeff Daniels approved of the prequel produced. And for the final edit to the Cocktail List article I added internal links at the bottom of the page to "Beer" and "Glassware" that links to the wikipedia articles of these subjects. Thank you WIKIPEDIA for the fun all semester long. I love you now and forever ;-*
